I was born in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania on March 4, 1969. The youngest of three boys, I had a fairly healthy, normal childhood growing up in a rather average suburban area. My Mom and Dad worked hard and were very good parents. My brothers and I enjoyed good times, good holidays and good people in my family. Both my parents were amatuer musicians (my mother was a trained pianist with an angelic voice while my father was a guitarist and formidable songwriter), so I picked up a love for music at a very early age. My early music influences were Merle Haggard, Neil Diamond, Carol King, Neil Sedaka, Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, John Denver, The Eagles, Ronnie Milsap, and many other comtemporary 70's artists in all genres. That was probably the biggest musical impact for me...variety. A complete lack of favoritism when it came to music. I remember listening to a Reader's Digest album of Christmas favorites and being enthralled by a rousing orchestral version of "Deck the Halls" arranged and conducted by Peter Knight. Only years later did I realize that Knight had arranged and conducted all the music with Moody Blues on their seminal album "Days of Future Past". That is what I mean...unabashed love of melody.....of music. Whether Scarlatti or Skinny Puppy...I get something out of ALL of it. More personally, I must admit that as I have become older, I really appreciate the importance of my immediate family now. My father died in 2002 and remains one of my heroes. My mother is a wonderful woman who will never realize how much she is loved by so many. She is a rock. My middle brother, Chris, is the guy who always gets you to enjoy yourself and be true to who you really are. While Scott,my oldest brother, is the perfect example of strength, responsibilty, dedication and resilience. After finishing High School, I soon married and became the father of two wonderful kids. Unfortunately, my marriage failed and I found myself divorced at the ripe old age of 24. For the next several years I remained single and basically had a lousy time screwing up anything of importance in my life. Luckily, I met a great woman who I married in 2002. She brought into the fray her illustrious son and so then I had three good reasons why my hair is gray. Unfortunately though, we divorced in 2009. Professionally, I have been self-employed most of my adult life ( not good with companies and bosses, I guess ) in transportation or sales. I am currently a sole proprietor of SHELLY COURIER-- a local small to medium size freight handler and delivery agent. Hey, it pays the bills...barely. As you can see, my real career interest is music. I am a composer, vocalist, performer, musician, arranger and producer with over 40 cds released over the last 20 years. I am a performer of Pop, Rock, Country, Oldies, Jazz...you name it. Anything music and performance, I love it! In addition, I used to host an Internet radio talk show just chockful of your usual conservative blather and such for the political masses. It was and still is a lot of fun. Ultimately I am an optimist and believe my best years are indeed still ahead of me. So I will be adding to this biography frequently and hope that maybe others will see some of my life in theirs. Take Care. |
