Failing Grace
Home
Welcome to the home of FAILING GRACE. Failing Grace is many things. It is first and foremost the music of Matthew Shelly, but it is also the inspiration, process, production and history of that particular music. The name "Failing Grace" comes from a composition of the same name on the PAIN album, released in 1992. The song is a King Crimson-inspired, rather dark journey through the mind of one man trying to identify and isolate his "muse". Always female, the muse is the culmination of everything romantic (in the literary sense), enticing, sensual, exotic, surreal and primal about composing music. Essence may be the right word of choice. Here, we will examine Matthew Shelly's music and where it all comes from. We will see his influences, production and composition analysis both past, present and future, and try to share the insight of one prolific artist.
